(HBO) - In the past years, the Farmers' Association of Lac Son district has deployed many solutions to help its members in poverty reduction.

Farmers' Association in the form of loans to buy cows to improve their
livelihoods.
Lac Son district currently has 34,089 rural households, with 31,949
households directly engaging in agricultural production. Over the past years,
the district Farmers' Association has promoted the emulation movement in
production among farmers, while encouraging mutual support and solidarity in
sustainable poverty reduction. So far, 100 percent of the association’s
chapters in the district have built production models to give local farmers
access to farming technology, helping them apply the models to reality with the
motto of "farmers teaching farmers", and "farmers learning from
farmers".
In addition, the association’s chapters have mobilized farmers to
contribute to the Day for the Poor fund to help poor members in various forms
such as working days, capital, business experience, materials, and plant seeds
and animals. With a contribution of 2,000 VND each member per year, the
association has effectively implemented a programme to support its members in
building houses. The association has collaborated with the central fund for
supporting farmers to provide loans for farmers to buy breeding cows with a
total budget of 9 billion VND, while working with the provincial fund to lend
to projects to develop cow raising and citrus tree cultivation with a total
budget of over 800 million VND. Nearly 360 million VND has been mobilized to
support 16 households to develop production.
With a budget of 300 million VND from the district budget, the association
has offered loans to 15 households to keep cows and chickens. It is managing
and operating the district farmers' support fund with total capital of over
2.46 billion VND, while continuing to engage in providing trust loans for
farmers. So far, the association and the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank
have provided 136.91 billion VND worth of loans for 4,462 households, while the
Vietnam Bank for Social Policy has given over 97,302 billion VND in trust loans
through the association to 6,966 borrowers.
Alongside, the association actively coordinated with Thien Tam (Kind Heart)
Fund of Vingroup to select 400 poor households for a programme on giving out
young calves to needy families. Up to now, the association has implemented the
first phase of the programme with 200 calves given to 200 farmer households in
the locality./.
