(HBO) – We acknowledged that there was no shortage of goods but for a slight increase in the prices for some items with big purchasing power after the commodity market survey in the province after the Lunar New Year of Pig.

Vegetable stalls at Phuong Lam market (Hoa Binh city) provide abundant  supplies to meet the consumer demand after Tet holidays.

The abnormal weather changes, prolonged heat before, during and after Tet holidays have a great influence on people's psychological shopping. Since the second day of the lunar January, most of the markets in the province have activated again to meet the consumer demand. The commodity prices during and after Tet holidays are only slightly higher than those during the normal days. After Tet holidays, the great purchasing power have focused on fresh foods, green vegetables and fresh fruits.

The supply of green vegetables and food is plentiful because it is the main season with the favorable weather factors for export and harvest so it is possible to meet the needs of the consumers. Through the survey, some foods with good consumption such as green vegetables in the peak period from the 2nd to 6th of Lunar January cost from 6,000 to 8,000 VND a bundle, 1,000 - 2,000 VND higher compared to those normal days; the rump and tenderloin pork cost from 100,000 to 120,000 VND a kilo, the chicken are from 120,000 to 130,000 VND a kilo, the carp of type three or four cost from 80,000 to 100,000 VND a kilo and so on.

From January 8, supermarkets, shopping centers commercial shops and the commodity market have been stable along with the normal return of markets.  Through the consumer’s information channel, most of the food products serving the people's eating needs have returned come back to the normal prices.

Mr. Tran Trung Hieu, the head of Trade Management Department (the Department of Industry and Trade) says that with the solutions to stabilize the market prices before, during and after Tet holidays , strengthening the anti-smuggling, trade fraud and goods fake, the situation of commodity markets in the province has not changed. Especially during this time, the price of the essential consumer goods such as food, cakes, jam, candy, soft drinks, beer and so on went up slightly due to the increased purchasing power and the changes in the selling price from manufacturing enterprises, distributors. There was an average increase of less than 0.5% compared to the selling price before December 12, 2018. There was no shortage of products in the area and the price increase. The phenomenon of speculation, hoarding and hoarding goods during the Tet holidays fell sharply.
