(HBO) - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dich Giao commune, Tan Lac district, Bui Thi Khuyen said the locality has set a target to lift per capita income in the locality to 45 million VND/year.

To concretise the resolution of the Tan Lac district Party Committee to convert the ineffective rice land to the cultivation of high economic value crops, Dich Giao has built an implementation plan, and directed the communal Party Committee and authorities to encourage locals to plan production areas to be suitable for each type of crop, and apply new farming techniques to save costs, thus increasing economic value of cultivation areas.

Implementing the plan, Dich Giao has fulfilled the production area planning in Khay hamlet, while encouraging locals to convert ineffective rice farming land into areas for other trees such as Sachi, bitten melons and wax gourds.

Secretary of the Party Committee of Dich Giao commune, Tan Lac district, Bui Thi Khuyen said comparing to the 588 ha of cultivation area of rice and other crops in the commune, the conversion rate still remains limited.

 However, with the signing of a contract to stably buy vegetables and Sachi seeds with INCA Vietnam joint Stock Company, the communal Party Committee and authorities believe that the planting area of Sachi trees in the locality will be quickly expanded. With a value of 4 times higher than rice cultivation, the cultivation of Sachi trees is considered as one of the main orientations to improve income for local people.

Along with shifting crops, local authorities have also paid attention to promoting the development of livestock and poultry husbandry in recent times. At present, the total number of cattle heads of the commune is over 1,000.

Local households initially have taken the initiative in growing grass to ensure feed for their livestock.

With the application of many concerted measures devised  by the local authorities, the poverty rate of Dich Giao commune was averagely decreased by 3 percent each year to 8.92 percent in 2018, and the per capita income is constantly being raised./.
