HBO - Over the past years, the women’s union in Hop Thinh commune, Ky Son district, Hoa Binh province, has actively implemented labour production emulations and built new-style rural areas.

The women’s union in Hop Thinh has 754 members and 11 branches. Implementing the women’s economic development movement, the union has entrusted loans worth 2.1 billion VND from the district’s Social Policy Bank to 105 members, and 580 million VND from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Besides supporting needy member households, the union has consulted the local authorities to establish a joint cake-making group to increase incomes for women. It has opened three training courses on technological transfer in production and animal husbandry. As a result, many members have got out of property and been able to build highly-efficient economic models, creating stable incomes.

In response to the campaign "five nos, three cleans”, the union launched communications sessions on food safety and mobilised people to dredge canals and keep the breeding facilities clean.

In 2018, the union expanded the flowery road model with the participation of 50 members. It also built hygienic toilets and removed breeding facilities from residential areas.

Responding to the campaign "All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas”, women from the union joined hands to clear up the village roads and actively engaged in humanitarian and charity activities. Thanks to the contributions by women members to economic and rural development, the average per capita income of Hop Tinh commune has reached 42.5 million VND, while the rate of poor households reduced by 2.68 percent.
