(HBO) - Implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm in the hospital environment, the provincial medical sector has implemented many effective solutions from the provincial level to the district level, creating positive changes.

The ban on smoking is placed in places where many people pass by. Photo was taken at the Provincial General Hospital.

Mr. Pham Van Cuong, the Director of Medical Center of Mai Chau District says that implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm, the district’s Medical Center has strictly implemented the propaganda to ban smoking in public places, especially the examination and treatment points for patients. Most places affecting patients have signs and panels about banning smoking and harmful tobacco to health. At the unit, we have attached the emulation with anti-smoking task to effectively implement.

Ms. Dang Huyen Thuong, the Deputy Head of the Professional Office (the Department of Health) says that in medical facilities, the construction of a free-smoke environment is very necessary, ensuring a clean environment and an effective service of medical examination and treatment for people. Non-smoking medical staff also set a good example for patients and patients' families. Thereby, it helps to educate and encourage the protection of public health, creating a healthy environment to help patients treat effectively. In hospitals, besides the exemplary non-smokers, the officials and employees do well in the role of advising, supervising and reminding smokers to extinguish drugs to preserve a clean hospital environment, requesting people, patients and the members of patients' families to raise their awareness of observing the law on tobacco prevention and combat. Smoking is prohibited in hospital premises to avoid affecting the health of patients. Typically at Mai Chau District Medical Center and Hoa Binh City Health Center no-smoking is implemented seriously.

However, self-monitoring and reminding smokers are still indulgent... so it is still in violation of the ban on smoking.
