(HBO) – The Hoa Binh provincial Department of Population and Family Planning has partnered with the steering committee for population and planning of Cao Phong district to hold a gathering of 40 local families whose children are all daughters with excellent academic performances.

The event aims to increase the effectiveness of
population and family planning communication campaigns and change people’s
mindset on gender preference, thus improving population quality.
At the gathering, three all-daughter families
shared experience in talking to other relatives about how a family should only
have two children at
most, even if they are girls, in order to provide
the children with better care and education.
The population and family planning department also talked
to attendees about the consequences of sex imbalance at birth, child marriage
and consanguine marriage, as well as solutions to avoid getting pregnant with the third child.
