(HBO) – The Trade Union of Hoa Binh province on March 3 held a symposium on women’s role in gender equality promotion and gender-based violence prevention for female trade union officials at grassroots level.

At the event,
participants were provided with information on the role of women in promoting
gender equality and preventing gender-based violence and abuse. They watched documentaries
about sexual abuse and how to prevent and fight sexual abuse in Vietnam and
around the world. They were
also given skills and measures to
prevent violence and sexual abuse against women.
The female participants
wore Vietnamese traditional gown (Ao Dai) in response to "Ao Dai – Vietnam’s
Cultural Heritage” project initiated by the Vietnam Women’s Union Central
Committee and its chapter in Hoa Binh.
The symposium was
among events to mark the 110th anniversary of the International Women’s Day (March 8), the 1980th year of Trung Sisters’ Uprising andthe International Day of
Happiness.
It aimed to raise
public awareness of women’s
role in today’s society, give people more knowledge to realise the Party’s policies in promoting gender equality and preventing sexual
abuse, and provide them with skills to cope with violence and sexual abuse in
family and community./.
