(HBO) - Communication is one of the leading measures against the epidemic. Up to 22 news stories and articles about the outbreak prevention were broadcast on local radio system while three programmes covering information related to communes and townships were broadcast on loudspeakers three times a day. Fifteen panels and five slogans about the effort could be seen in public places. Communes and townships printed and distributed leaflets to every local household.

Public areas are disinfected in Luong Son district.

In order to proactively fight the epidemic at four levels (when not any infection case is confirmed, when the disease enters the district, when the virus infects 20-50 people, and when more than 50 people is infected with the virus), the district has equipped itself with necessary equipment, machinery and supplies.

The whole district now has one breathing machine, one portable X-ray machine, three electric syringes, one infusion machine, and two low-pressure aspirators. The district suggested purchasing additional five-parameter patient monitors, one oxygen generator, and intubation luminaire; over 5,000 disposable anti-epidemic suits, more than 5,000 surgical masks, 252 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitiser, and boxes of specimen.

Since early February, the district steering committee on COVID-19 prevention and control has coordinated with local health centre and youth union to spray disinfectants at 180 areas, including State agencies, schools, crowded and public places. Nearly 900kg of chemicals have been used.

As the district borders the capital city of Hanoi, drastic actions have been taken at every level. As not any infection case is confirmed (level 1), the locality actively raised public awareness of the effort, launched quick-response teams, and ensured the supply of necessary protective clothing, antiseptic solution and equipment.

Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Phuong Dong said Luong Son has closely monitored respiratory illness cases and those coming from epidemic-hit areas, and collected samples from suspected cases. It also set up a mobile emergency team to offer treatment if necessary, and arranged 150 hospital beds for isolation at the local medical centre and regional general clinic No.21./.
