(HBO) – In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, apart from precautionary measures, localities in Hoa Binh province have focused on communication activities to make locals vigilant against the epidemic. Local radio and television channels have played an active role in popularising relevant information.

Dinh Hoai Khoa, an official in charge of cultural affairs in My Hoa commune, Tan Lac district, broadcasts information on COVID-19 prevention and control through the communal radio system daily.

Officials in charge of cultural affairs in Khoan Du commune, Lac Thuy district, have regularly updated local residents on the latest information and instructions regarding the disease combat through radio systems of the commune and residential areas.

Loudspeakers in 10 towns and communes, and 116 hamlets and residential areas across Lac Thuy district have been optimised over the past days.

Mai Chau district’s centre of culture, sports and information has instructed localities to intensify the communication work through their radio channels.

Kha Thanh Tung, director of the centre, said Mai Chau is at high risk of COVID-19 as the district has welcomed many domestic and foreign visitors to its attractive tourist destinations.

Therefore, the district People’s Committee has ordered the centre to extend broadcast time and increase the amount of news regarding the combat through the loudspeakers of the district, as well as its 116 towns and communes, and 122 hamlets and residential areas, while handing out leaflets to people and putting up posters at public places.

According to Vuc Duc Truong, Deputy Director of Tan Lac district’s centre of culture, sports and information, the local radio system has devoted much time covering the pandemic combat in the most rapid and accurate way.

Currently, all of the 159 residential areas in 16 towns and communes in Tan Lac have been equipped with loudspeakers.

With the spirit of "fighting the epidemic like fighting the enemy,” localities in Hoa Binh have employed various measures and mobilised the involvement of the entire political system in this regard. Local radio channels have played an active role, helping to raise public awareness of the disease./.
