(HBO) - Over the past years, there have been many practical and specific action programs, to protect, care and educate children.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with the People's Committee of Hoa Binh city to visit and give gifts, encouraging the children in concentrated isolation area at Song Da Vocational College on May 19, 2021.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh Ngoc, the Deputy Director of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs says: Children are a high-quality human resource, a factor creating the development of the homeland and the country in the future. Therefore, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee and all levels of Party committees and the appropriate authorities always pay attention to, focus on leading and directing the work of children’s care and protection, synchronously and timely implement the solutions and the policies to protect and take care of children, thereby, it has been contributing to stabilizing the social security.

Every year, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs advises the Provincial People's Committee to issue the documents directing the appropriate departments, agencies, the People's Committees of the districts and the city to implement the activities of children’s protection and care. They are the Month Action for children, the children's forums at all levels and the training classes on handling situations in the water environment, free swimming lessons for children, creating conditions for children to have their voices about the issues related to children. 

They have been coordinating with non-governmental organizations such as ChildFund, World Vision, RIC to implement the projects on children’s protection, care, livelihood support, the projects on education, health, and sports. Thereby, they have been actively contributing to ensuring children's rights, creating opportunities for the children to participate and helping more children have a better life. On the other hand, they have been presenting gifts to children on the occasion of International Children's Day, 1st June, supporting scholarships and means of transportation for the children in especially difficult circumstances, supporting smile surgery, the improvement surgery of movement, and free heart surgery for children.

Right from the beginning of this year, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a document directing the children's work in the province, and at the same time they have developed the plans and guidelines for the implementation of the Action Month for Children in 2021 and Children's forum of all levels with lots of activities set out. However, in the face of the increasingly complicated development of Covid-19 epidemics, in order to well implement the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemics in the community, especially to ensure the health and safety for children, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs has adjusted the plan of activities, guiding the localities to choose the form of implementing the activities for children which are suitable to the current context. Specifically, they have been focusing on strengthening propaganda on the mass media, hanging banners, slogans, and mobile propaganda vehicles to introduce the Action Month for Children in 2021 with the theme: "joining hands to ensure the children's rights and children’s protection from natural disasters and epidemics”. They have been distributing leaflets and posters propagandizing against Covid-19 pandemics, preventing violence and children abuse, and preventing accidents and injuries to children, especially for the children who are isolated at home, giving gifts of nutritional supplements, distributing face masks to children in concentrated isolation areas, the children being treated at provincial General Hospitals, the children in the Social Work Center of the province. They have also coordinated with the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund to give gifts, scholarships and bicycles to the children with difficult circumstances.

Recently, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has also sent a written requesting the People's Committees of the districts and the city to coordinate with the functional agencies and localities to strengthen the measures for the prevention and control of Covid-19 for the children, ensuring safety for the children during the pandemics. 

In which, it is urgently requested to update the number, to make a list and the needs of the children in the social distance areas, the concentrated isolation facilities; supporting nutrition, essential supplies, medicines and additional medical products for the children; implementing the measures to protect the children in the development of the epidemics, ensuring the safety for the children together with the implementation of measures to prevent the epidemics; paying special attention to preventing and combating the risk of children abuse, accidents and injuries, preventing trauma and supporting psychological stability for the children. It is necessary to regularly inform and report the situation of the children affected by Covid-19 epidemics, supporting the children or the problems raised, the emergencies related to children to all levels and agencies of the local competent authorities for timely handling, guidance and support.
