(HBO) - Volunteering blood donation is a noble gesture of those who contribute "the pink drops of kindness”, bringing happiness and hope to save lives for many patients in need of blood, emergency, and being treated at hospitals. Every year, the province receives thousands of units of blood from the festivals of volunteering blood donation organized by the Red Cross at all levels in collaboration with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
The Festival of Volunteering Blood Donation in Luong Son district has attracted the participation of a large number of officials, soldiers, armed forces and people.
Ms. Truong Thi Kim Loan was honored to be one of the outstanding individuals selected by the Provincial Steering Committee to attend the ceremony honoring the nationwide typical blood donor, on the occasion of "The World Day to Honor Blood Donors” in 2021. Born in 1991, she is currently a teacher at Ky Son High School (Hoa Binh City). She has donated blood 16 times so far, and she has mobilized 30 people who are her relatives, friends and colleagues to register to donate blood.
Ms. Loan also says: "I am very honored and proud to have been selected by the Provincial Committee Union to participate in the ceremony to honor the typical blood donor in 2021. Ever since I was a student, I have participated in the Blood donation festival organized by the school and I have been aware that volunteering bloood donation is a noble and silent act to help someone in life. For me, this is an action with profound human meaning, bringing living opportunities for the patients with serious diseases, the people having accidents need blood for emergency... One day, when your loved relatives, friends and people around you need blood to support, donating blood becomes more meaningful. Therefore, if each of us is healthy and does not have an infectious disease, please register to participate in blood donation, making the movement spread more strongly in the society.”
Currently, in the whole province there are 178 steering committees mobilizing volunteering blood donation at the grassroots level, 54 blood-donation clubs with 1,127 people, of which, there are 462 peopel in the blood-donation clubs, there are 13 family clubs donating blood with 69 people, 14 clubs of live blood bank with 596 people, who are ready to give blood whenever there is a patient in need of support. Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has organized 6 rounds of volunteering blood donation with 4,700 turns of people registering to donate, collecting 3,556 blood units after conversion. At the blood donation sessions, the staff, the members, the volunteers and the people registered for blood donation all wear masks, disinfect hands, measure the body temperature and distance themselves to ensure the safety measures for Covid-19 prevention and control. These results were achieved thanks to the consensus and cooperation of the officials, the civil servants, the soldiers, the armed forces, the members, of the Communist Youth Union, the pupils the, students and all the people in the province.
In response to the International Day of Blood Donors on June 14th every year, in order to recognize and praise, the Provincial Steering Committee mobilizing volunteering blood donation regularly organizes the events honoring those who have contributed to "The Pink drops of kindness” with many achievements in the movement of blood donation. In 2020, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross awarded certificates of merit to 3 groups and 8 individuals; the Ministry of Health awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective; the Provincial Steering Committee mobilizing volunteering blood donation awarded certificates of merit to 6 groups and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in blood donation activities.
Mr. Bui Quoc Viet, the Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross, the Deputy Head of the Provincial Standing Committee mobilizing volunteering blood donation says: "The annual honoring ceremony for the typical blood donor is to honor the outstanding individuals and groups with the outstanding achievemenst in blood donation in the province. Thereby, it has been upholding the spirit of solidarity, the mutual love and the affection in the community, spreading the profound human values, contributing to bringing life to people having disease is in need of blood. Each of our actions contributes to motivating and promoting the movement of volunteering blood donation and helping it develop more and more.”
