(HBO) – In the first six months of 2021, the resurgence of COVID-19 and its complicated developments have posed great challenges to socio-economic development and security and order as well as the prevention and control of smuggling and trade fraud. In that context, the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee have given effective directions regarding the smuggling and trade fraud prevention and control to all localities and the Steering Committees for fighting against smuggling, commercial frauds and counterfeit goods (Steering Committees 389) in districts and Hoa Binh city, thus managing to maintain socio-economic stability.

According to the provincial Steering Committee
389, the supply of food and foodstuffs in the province has been stable without
any considerable fluctuation in prices.
The transportation and trade of smuggled, banned and counterfeit products have
been scattered without the formation of big traders and rings. The methods and
schemes of smugglers have become more sophisticated to avoid the detection of
the authorities.
Member sectors of the Steering Committees 389 of the province, districts and
Hoa Binh city have actively controlled the market and conducted inspections
within their authority. As a result, in the first half of this year, local
authorities have discovered and handled 654 violation cases, up 11.99 percent
year on year. Total fines and tax arrears reached 16.5 billion VND.
Law education and dissemination in the field has been focused on with the
active engagement of local departments and sectors. Communication activities
have been diversified and become suitable to the real situation and
characteristics of particular groups and regions. Besides, the provincial
Steering Committee 389 has launched a hotline to receive and handle reports on
smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit products.
According to the provincial Steering Committee 389, the smuggling, production
and trading of banned, fake and low quality products as well as trade fraud
will be more complicated in the rest of the year with more sophisticated
methods. Local competent forces will continue to strengthen inspections over
production and trading facilities, key traffic points and goods stocking
locations, thus detecting and handling violations, it said.
