(HBO) – Party organisations, authorities and local people in Hoa Binh are holding various in activities to express gratitude to people with meritorious services to the country, taking care of Vietnamese heroic mothers, families of war invalids and martyrs, on the occasion of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27).

Whenever the family of Ha Thi Xum, mother of a fallen soldier in Chieng Sai neighbourhood, Mai Chau town, has any problem or just during holidays, the local party committee, authorities, relatives and neighbours extend their help to the family. Especially during July, her family is getting a new house built with funding of the province, significantly improving the family's living standards.

In Hoa Binh City, provincial leaders visited and presented gifts to three Vietnamese heroic mothers. The delegation also visited the families of Agent Orange victims on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Agent Orange/dioxin disaster (August 10, 1961 - 2021).

Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs noted the province is currently home to 13,437 families of people with meritorious services, of whom more than 9,000 people and their relatives are receiving monthly allowances. In recent years, the provincial Party Committee and the provincial People's Committee have issued many documents to strengthen leadership and direction for the work. The province has also implemented many preferential policies on vocational training and job creation for children of war invalids and sick soldiers. Benefits for people with meritorious services are guaranteed, especially regular allowances, one-time allowances and other incentives such as housing construction support, health insurance card issuance, health care, tuition exemptions and reductions...

On average, the Provincial Gratitude Fund mobilizes 5 billion VND in donations and support every year. Up to now, 99.7 percent of people with meritorious services households have achieved a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living compared to people in the same area; 100 percent of communes, wards and townships are recognized for doing well in caring work towards war invalids, martyrs' families and public service workers.
