(HBO) – Upholding the tradition that "Healthy leaves cover torn leaves” and the pioneering and voluntary spirit of young people, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and youth associations at all levels in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh have actively contributed and called for resources to help local people affected by natural disasters soon stabilise their lives. At the same time, local youths have also been mobilised to help agencies, schools and households clean the environment, contributing to preventing post-flood diseases.

The HCM Communist Youth Union’s Hoa Binh chapter sent two delegations to visit
families affected by natural disasters in Tan Lac and Da Bac districts. In Tan
Lac, they presented families of those killed by landslides with one million VND
each.
Each family losing their houses also received 500,000 VND and 10kg of rice.
Meanwhile, 17 gift sets were also handed over to other flood-affected
households.
In Dong Ruong and Dong Nghe communes of Da Bac district, the hardest hit by the
recent floods and heavy rains, they presented 400 gift sets, including 100 gift
sets with blankets, rice, noodle, dry provisions and 500,000 VND to
flood-affected families.
Luong Thi Tien from Hay hamlet, Dong Ruong commune, said attention and support
of the volunteers have helped alleviate the plight suffered by the families,
while enabling them to soon stabilise their lives.
As of October 19, the chapter received donations worth 684 million VND from 13
volunteer groups, with eight groups supporting Da Bac district and the
remainder assisting Tan Lac district.
Bach Thanh Chuong, head of the information and education unit of the chapter,
said tens of volunteer delegations from Thanh Nien (Young People) Newspaper,
the
Military
Medical
Academy,
VPBank and youth union of the Ministry of Construction have registered with the
chapter to provide free medical check-ups and medicines, cash and essential
goods to the flood victims.
The chapter has guided the volunteer delegations so that gift sets can reach
all the victims and the work turns out to be effective, he said.
Besides, youth unions at all levels have also mobilised resources to assist
flood-affected residents in their localities like Lac Thuy, Kim Boi and Luong
Son districts.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Secretary of Lac Thuy district Youth Union, said after
the downpours ended, local youths cleaned the environment at headquarters of
agencies, schools and households. They also called on businesses to help with
drinking water and essential goods. On October 16, the youth union coordinated
with enterprises to present 255 gift sets to the victims./.
