Being imbued with Uncle Ho’s teaching "Doctors are like gentle mothers”, over the past 67 years, health workers in the province have always fulfilled their tasks. In particular, when the COVID-19 broke out two years ago, medical workers have upheld the responsibility of frontline forces and made great efforts to realise the dual goals of fighting the pandemic while taking care of people’s health, ensuring safety, and flexible adaptation to the pandemic in a new normal stateIn the arduous and challenging fight against the pandemic, the contingent of medical workers have made tireless efforts and braved risks to collect samples, conduct testing, trace contact and administer COVID-19 vaccines for local residents.
According to Bui Thu Hang, Director of the Department of Health, the province has established a specialised treatment facility with 30 beds for critical COVID-19 patients in the provincial General Hospital as well as dozens of treatment facilities at the district level and hundreds of mobile medical stations with the all-out involvement of the medical force.
The treatment, contact tracing and isolation of infected persons have been carried out along with drastic campaigns to vaccinate people against COVID-19 on a large scale to achieve herd immunity as early as possible while ensuring safety.
Thanks to those tireless efforts, thousands of people with COVID-19 have recovered from the disease. The vaccination rate among people aged 18 and above reached over 99.98 percent and 99.02 percent for those aged from 12 to 17.
During the prolonged pandemic, medical check-ups and treatment still take place normally at the provincial General Hospital, with pandemic prevention and control regulations strictly observed. In particular, the hospital has researched and applied many modern techniques to serve patients.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to see complicated developments this year. However, with the responsibility and noble ethics of the local medical workers, the provincial health sector will focus on putting the pandemic under control, making an important contribution to local socio-economic recovery.
The sector will also strive to increase people's satisfaction with health services and roll out remote medical examination and treatment so that people can access high-quality and modern medical services amid the pandemic./.
