(HBO) - Promoting digital transformation and information technology (IT) application are key tasks in the education-training renewal roadmap of Hoa Binh, contributing to the implementation of the digital transformation strategy of the province for 2021-25, with a view to 2030.

The Cao Phong town secondary school (Cao Phong district) houses modern equipment for learning foreign languages and Informatics, helping raise efficiency of digital transformation in the education sector.

Under the strategy, the education sector will develop a remote teaching and learning platform; apply digital technology in management, teaching and learning; and digitalise materials and study plans, among others.

The province is working to have all educational establishments roll out remote learning and test a training programme which allows students to study online 20 percent of the curriculum at the minimum.

The education sector over the years has paid due attention to mobilise resources to kickstart digital transformation. It has carried out concerted and practical measures in infrastructure investment and building digital database and training for staff, and more.

The provincial Department of Education-Training signed cooperation agreements with telecom corporations like VNPT and Viettel. With support from The Dariu Foundation, computer science and programming along with STEM/STEAM have been introduced in kindergartens and high schools, earning positive results.

In the 2020-21 academic year, about 5,000 children aged 4-6 of the 53 kindergartens gained access to computer science. Nearly 200 programming and STEM clubs were set up at schools and over 3,000 teachers received relevant training.

Last year, Dariu Foundation presented 400 laptops, 65 desktops, 30 tablets and 945 smartphones to Hoa Binh schools. Various products and projects have been built and won prizes at prestigious international IT contests.

Head of the IT group of the provincial Education-Training Department Bui Ngoc Lam said the province has started to utilise online teaching tools in tandem with COVID-19 prevention and control measures. Amid complex developments of the pandemic, online teaching has been bolstered and become essential to adapt to a new normal and speed up digital transformation in the sector, he added.

The education-training sector will join hands with FPT Group to build a smart education ecosystem project meeting requirements for digital transformation in the field, as part of a partnership between the Hoa Binh People’s Committee and FPT on digital transformation in the province./.
