(HBO) – Amid the complex COVID-19 situation, vaccination is considered the most effective
solution to achieve herd immunity in the pandemic combat. Given this, the steering board for
COVID-19 prevention and control of Da Bac district has been speeding up the inoculation, which has received support from the public.
Health workers of Da Bac district give the third dose of
COVID-19 vaccine to residents in Giap Dat commune.
The healthcare centre of Da Bac has seriously
carried out the health sector’s guidelines and the district steering board’s
plan on COVID-19 vaccination in efforts to obtain herd immunity. As Da Bac is a
large district with scattered population and unfavourable transport conditions,
the centre has advised the steering board to open 17 new vaccinate sites.
Besides, mobile vaccination stations have been set up to administer the
vaccines to the elderly and those unable to reach inoculation sites.
The centre has worked with communal-level
steering boards to boost communications to encourage local residents to take
part in the vaccination campaign. It has also arranged vehicles to help people
move to the vaccination sites. Apart from making a detailed vaccination plan,
it has also sent its staff members to assist health workers at vaccination sites
to ensure progress.
Pham Anh Tuan, head of the health station of Tu
Ly commune, said Tu Ly is home to more than 6,000 residents. Before each
vaccination phase, the local health station advised the communal steering board
about the communication plan, which combines different forms of information
dissemination. The grassroots Party cells and health workers have come to each
household to help locals learn about the importance of vaccination. The
vaccination process has always complied with regulations on health declaration,
screening, consulting, vaccine administration, and post-inoculation monitoring.
About 98.34 percent of children aged 12 - 17 in
Da Bac has received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The rate stood at 98.36
percent among those aged 18 and above. Meanwhile, the administration of the
third shot is being accelerated, with coverage reaching 74.39 percent so far.
Deputy director of the Da Bac healthcare centre
Pham Thi Tuyet said given local difficulties in COVID-19 vaccination, the
centre has stepped up communications to raise public awareness of the pandemic
fight. It hopes that the State will provide more personnel and material
assistance for the district so as to ensure vaccination safety, especially when
inoculation will be carried out for children aged 5 - 11 in the time ahead./.
