Leaders of Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, Hoa Binh province’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Kim Boi district present 400 gift packages to poor students in My Hoa commune.

Consequences of the unusual heavy rains and floods last month have left hundreds of thousands of people in northern mountainous provinces, particularly those in Hoa Binh, living in difficulties, said Director General of Dai-ichi Life Vietnam Tran Dinh Quan, who is also President of the firm’s "For a Better Life” Foundation. The province’s students are in urgent need of support to continue their study, he added.

The foundation gave some 800 gift packages, including warm clothing and schoolbags worth 170 million VND (7.480 USD) in total, to primary and secondary students in the two communes in the hope of making them warm and safe on the way to schools during the winter.

Besides the event in Hoa Binh, the insurer has organised charity events to provide relief to flood-affected people in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa, Son La and Yen Bai provinces since mid-October. The company has so far donated 1.4 billion VND (61,600 USD) in aid to contribute to the disaster-relief effort.
