(HBO) – Insurer Dai-ichi Life Vietnam on November 14 teamed up with Hoa Binh province’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to present 800 gift packages to disadvantaged students in My Hoa commune of Kim Boi district and Trung Thanh commune of Da Bac district.

Consequences of the unusual heavy
rains and floods last month have left hundreds of thousands of people in
northern mountainous provinces, particularly those in Hoa Binh, living in
difficulties, said Director General of Dai-ichi Life Vietnam Tran Dinh Quan,
who is also President of the firm’s "For a Better Life” Foundation. The
province’s students are in urgent need of support to continue their study, he
added.
The foundation gave some 800 gift
packages, including warm clothing and schoolbags worth 170 million VND (7.480
USD) in total, to primary and secondary students in the two communes in the
hope of making them warm and safe on the way to schools during the winter.
Besides the event in Hoa Binh, the
insurer has organised charity events to provide relief to flood-affected people
in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa, Son La and Yen Bai
provinces since mid-October. The company has so far donated 1.4 billion VND (61,600
USD) in aid to contribute to the disaster-relief effort.
