(HBO) - The police in Hung Thi commune of Lac Thuy district have gained strong trust and high evaluation of local residents and administration thanks to the force's close relations with the local community.

In February, while working at his farm in Mang hamlet, Hung Thi commune, Bui ThanhHiep, a local resident, found parts of a gun. He then bought other necessary parts to make a complete gun and used it as a home decoration.

After being persuaded by local police officers, Hiep voluntarily handed over the gun and some unused gun parts to the police.

Right from the beginning of the year, the local police force has built and implemented plans to prevent and combat crimes related to weapons and explosives, while conducting campaigns to encourage local residents to hand over weapons and explosives.

As a result, in the first nine months of this year, local police had convinced local residents to hand over one PCP air gun, three self-made guns, one set of air gun components, one PCP gun valve, and one box of spray guns.

DinhAnh Tuan, Director of the Police Office of Hung Thi commune said that the force has applied various measures and given advice to the local administration on solutions to ensure the security and social order, while keeping close monitoring of the situation in the locality and defining issues that need to be tackled.

Meanwhile, the force has coordinated with relevant agencies to encourage local residents to take part in the movement of all people protecting national security through diverse methods, while conducting regular patrols and activities to prevent criminals and social evils, he said.

A number of effective models have also been implemented, including community-based security groups and 10 reconciliation teams at the grassroots level.

In the first nine months of this year, the commune saw four security and social order violation cases involving five defendants. The commune was the only locality that record no drug addict and no gambling and prostitution case./.
