With the construction of models to ensure a safe living environment, the children in Khoan Du commune (Lac Thuy) have been taken care for and protected for their comprehensive development of physical and mental strength.
There are 6 villages and 1,016 households with 3,761 people in the whole commune, and the people's lives mainly depend on the agricultural production. According to Mr. Dinh Cong Tien, the Chairman of Khoan Du Communal People's Committee, although there have been no serious cases of women’s and children’s abuse in the commune, there is still family violence in the pas tịmes. Along with that, as the area is located along Boi River, the situation of children bathing in the river is quite common, leading to a high risk of drowning in children...
Stemming from that fact and with the desire to build the safe village for women and children, the Communal Women's Union has collaborated with the Communal Public Security to build a model of "The safe village for women and children” in Hoang Dong village. From the practical effect, the model has attracted the active and volunteer participation of a large number of people.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Lan, the Chairman of the Women's Union of Khoan Du commune, the care and protection of women and children has received more attention since the model was implemented. The people's awareness in creating a healthy and safe living environment for women and children has been focused... Especially, from this model, there have been many new models in the commune to protect women and children have been established in the villages so far. They include "3 safety: the cyber safety, the safety for women and children, the food and hygiene safety” in Roc Tru 1 village; "There are no relatives in the families violating the law and suffering from the social evils”.
In 2022, the Communal Public Security coordinated with th eappropriate branches, mass organizations and villages to build and put into operation the model "The safe living environment for children” in 6 out of the 6 villages. According to the Captain Vu Tien Hai, the Chief of Khoan Du commune’s Public Security, through the survey, the communal police force has determined that in addition to the issues related to ensuring the security and order, managing the objects, preventing the crime, etc., the issue of health and safety protection for women and children has been emerged; instructing women and children so that they can take the preventive measures for themselves before they get used to the social evils in some places has sometimes not been paid close attention to; there are cases that children are seduced illegally using drugs, engaging in social evils... Thereby, building the model "The safe village for women and children” has been considered an appropriate and effective model in the locality.
With the view to supporting the families andthe people to improve their knowledge and skills in preventing and combating the family violence, the sexual abuse of women and children, preventing the social evils, school drugs and building a happy family, the appropriate branches and mass organizations of Khoan Du commune have coordinated to well implement the law propaganda work with many rich contents in the past time. In particular, they have been focusing on the propaganda content on maintaining the social order and safety, preventing crimes against women and children; propagandizing on drowning prevention and control, prevention of harmful effects of drugs, school violence... This has brought positive effects, creating a clear change from the awareness to the action in the management work and children’s education in the families.
Also, according to Captain Vu Tien Hai, the increased legal awareness has contributed to maintaining and ensuring the social security and order in the commune. Accordingly, in 2022 and in the first 3 months of 2023, there was only 1 violation case in the commune which was handled by the Communal Public Sevurity (administratively handled) according to its competence. There was no citizen violating the law to the point of being penalized. 6 outoff the 6 villages and one educational institution has been recognized to meet the standard of "safety in terms of security and order”. These results have made an important contribution to the crime prevention, eliminating and step-by-step repelling the social evils to build a clean communal area, free of crime and social evils.
