(HBO) – Hoa Binh provincial People's Committee on May 18 held a conference to introduce key tasks of child protection and care, gender equality, and the advancement of women in 2023. Nguyen Van Toan, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Child Protection Programme, and Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Women in the province, chaired the conference.

Representatives of departments, agencies, and organisations sign the Regulation on Inter-sectoral Coordination.

In 2022, the province achieved positive results in child care and protection. Disadvantaged children are supported for comprehensive physical and mental development.

The province paid attention to increasing awareness about the child's right and their participation in child-related issues. It also promoted the intervention, monitoring, and support for children who are injured, sexually assaulted, or those who have special circumstances and are at risk of falling into special circumstances. The number of children who died due to injuries and accidents in the province decreased compared to 2021.

The province also cared more about the work to promote gender equality. The percentage of women participating in leadership and management at all levels increased significantly. The position and role of women in the family and society are recognised. The province attached importance to job creation for female workers, especially those in rural areas. The number of female workers with new jobs and stable incomes is increasing regularly. There are more policies to develop and support small- and medium-sized enterprises, which create favourable conditions and opportunities for women to start and own businesses in the province.

At the conference, participants discussed and made recommendations to promote child care and protection, gender equality, and activities of the Committee for the Advancement of Women. At the same time, leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and organisations signed the Inter-sectoral Coordination Plan for Child Drowning Prevention and Control for the 2023 - 2030 period and the Regulation on inter-sectoral coordination between the Departments of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Health, Education and Training, Culture, Sports, and Tourism on children care and protection.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Toan asked agencies, departments, branches, organisations, and localities to review and complete the plan with a focus on improving infrastructure and facilities for child care and protection.

The province will maintain and replicate practical and effective models as well as pay more attention to swimming classes for children, reducing drowning and organising safe and helpful summer activities for them.

Toan requested authorities of all levels and sectors to facilitate job creation for women in rural, remote, and isolated areas. Communication campaigns will be carried out to improve gender quality, especially in rural, remote, and isolated areas./.
