(HBO) – The Hoa Binh Literature and Arts Association on September 12 held a ceremony at the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum to receive donations and continue to call for support for a community of Muong ethnic people in Don village in the Lao province of Houaphanh.
Head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Bui Tien Luc and officials from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism attended the ceremony.
Representatives from the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the provincial Literature and Arts Association receive donations that organisations and individuals give to the Muong people in Don village, Houaphanh province.
It is said that some Muong people in Vietnam came to Don village and settled down there hundreds of years ago. The community in Don village now has 103 households with over 850 people. They still preserve many traditional customs of the Muong ethnic group in Vietnam.
In May 2023, a delegation of the Hoa Binh Literature and Arts Association visited Houaphanh at the invitation of the Lao province's Department of Information, Culture and Tourism to assist the Lao side in studying the origin and culture of the Muong people. During the trip, the delegation learned about the desire of the Muong community in Don village to preserve the cultural heritage of their ethnicity.
On behalf of the association, its chairman poet Le Va posted some photos and articles about the field trip on his Facebook account, calling on individuals and organisations to join hands to support the Muong people in Don village.
After four months, the association received 12 Muong gongs from Quach Cong Duyet's family, Thanh Cao commune, Luong Son district; 20 sets of Muong ethnic costumes from Bui Thi Linh's family, Bong K Lang store, group 5, Tan Thinh ward, Hoa Binh city; a set of gong from the family of Meritorious Artist Bui Thanh Binh, Director of the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum; 12 Muong gongs from writer Nguyen Tien Loi's family; two books on the Muong epic " Giving births to the soil and water” and Mo Muong from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism plus 22.7 million VND from benefactors.
At the ceremony, the association continued calling for support to the Muong community in Don village, Houaphanh province.
With an allocation of 44 billion VND (1.72 million USD) under the national target programme on socio-economic development in the ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas for the 2021-2025 period, Hoa Binh city has invested in the target areas, creating many changes in the living conditions of local ethnic minority communities.
The social security system at all levels in Hoa Binh province has been making concerted efforts to ensure benefits of citizens and workers when they participate in social insurance and health insurance.

On December 23, the Department of Education and Training held a meeting to encourage the selected team participating in the national high school excellent student competition for the school year of 2024-2025. There was the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
