An Binh commune makes efforts to build advanced new-style rural area

(HBO) – An Binh commune in Lac Thuy district has been striving to meet the requirements of an advanced new-style rural area by 2025. In 2019, the commune was recognised as a new-style rural area.

Local authorities and people have conducted practical activities to meet standards of new-style rural areas. An example is the commune’s Ninh Ngoai village where locals developed a model for collecting and treating waste.

Bui Thanh Hien, Secretary of the Ninh Ngoai party cell said that the model has been implemented since October 2022. All households in the village signed a commitment on participating in environmental protection and climate change response. Of the total 153 households, 145 households built their garbage incinerators, and the other eight used shared incinerators. Each incinerator costs 800,000 VND to 1.2 million VND (33-50 USD). With the incinerators, the village became cleaner as waste was collected and treated properly.

Tran Duc Van, Vice Chairman of An Binh Commune People's Committee, said that when implementing the national target programme to build new-style rural areas, the commune has issued an action plan and launched emulation campaigns.

The Party Committee and People's Committee of An Binh commune determined that the ultimate goal of building new-style rural areas is to improve people's lives.

In recent years, people from all walks of life in the commune have been creatively and actively transforming the economic structure, shifting to high-value crops and livestock, and applying scientific and technical advances to production and livestock farming. Therefore, the economy has developed strongly and become more and more sustainable. By 2022, the commune's average income per capita reached 72 million VND. The poverty rate was 12.93%.

According to Van, currently, the commune continues to strengthen solutions to meet the criteria of advanced new-style rural areas. In 2023, the commune strives to have three out of its 14 villages - Dai Dong, Duc Binh, and Ninh Ngoai – recognised as advanced new-style rural areas.

New opportunities for Hoa Binh residents to work abroad

In late March, 29 labourers from Da Bac district were sent to work as seasonal farm workers in Buyeo county, Chungcheongnam province, the Republic of Korea (RoK). Upon arrival, they quickly settled into their jobs, enjoying good working conditions and benefits, with wages aligned with the terms of their signed contracts. The programme is now being expanded, with relevant departments and sectors actively seeking additional seasonal employment opportunities in various localities across the RoK.
