Lac Son district currently has over 131,000 people participating in health insurance, reaching a coverage rate of 93.2%. The district is drastically implementing solutions to fulfil the coverage target of 94.7% as assigned by the province.

According to Bui Van Kien, Deputy Director of Lac Son district’s social security agency, the unit has coordinated with the Division of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and relevant agencies to make a list of people living in communes with special circumstances updated in the national population database and the population database on residence. It has also coordinated with the People's Committees of the above communes to make lists of people without health insurance cards, those participating in household health insurance, and those from agricultural, forestry and fishery households who have participated in health insurance; and add information on date of birth, and citizen identification for those lacking information. On November 6, the district People's Committee issued a Decision approving the list of people living in three communes with special circumstances: An Nghia, Tan My and Yen Nghiep.

The district has strengthened leadership and direction on the implementation of the Party's guidelines, and the State’s policies and laws on health insurance, directed the social security agency to coordinate with the health centre to well organise medical examinations and treatments using health insurance cards, ensure benefits for health insurance participants when going for medical examination and treatment, and improve the quality of health care. It also continues to coordinate with agencies and units to well carry out dissemination work, and encourage people to participate in social insurance and household health insurance.

With the determination to achieve the target and plan assigned by the provincial People's Committee, the district People's Committee assigned the Division of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the district social insurance agency, and members of the steering committee on the implementation of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies to be responsible for regularly directing, urging, and continuing to coordinate closely with units to increase the number of people participating in health insurance, and promptly solve arising problems.
