Thanh Son is a remote and disadvantaged commune in Mai Chau
district, with a vast area and difficult transportation conditions. This year,
the commune aims to recruit 20 residents for military service.
Ha Van Tho, a 19-year-old resident of Na Phat hamlet deeply
rooted in the revolutionary tradition of Thanh Son, exemplifies a strong sense
of duty to his hometown and country. Coming from a disadvantaged family, yet
the young man, fueled by determination, submitted a letter to voluntarily
enlist upon learning about the military service examination for 2024. He sees
the military environment as an important school that will equip him with the
skills to live in an organised, disciplined, mature and courageous manner as he
steps into society. Additionally, donning the military uniform fulfills his
childhood dream, motivating him to strive for excellence in training, study and
the fulfillment of assigned tasks.
Among his peers, 20-year-old Dinh Anh Quan from Thung Khe hamlet
also aspires to strive, train and grow in the army. After studying the Military
Service Law and recognising his good health, Quan voluntarily submitted a
letter for enlistment during the 2024 military recruitment campaign. He proudly
acknowledges his family's military legacy, with his grandfather and uncle
having served in the army. Drawn from his grandfather's stories, Quan embraces
the responsibility and obligation to contribute to homeland construction and
protection, prompting his voluntary decision to join military service.
To ensure a successful recruitment drive, the communal Military
Command actively disseminated key points of the Military Service Law, educated
locals on historical traditions, and promoted policies for young individuals to
join the military, outlining the rights and duties of citizens in such service.
Nguyen Ha Cong Sang, Commander of the communal Military Command,
said over the past time, the command, along with political-social organisations
and local authorities, has actively carried out an educational campaign on
military service. Prior to the examination, the communal youth union visited
eligible young people and their families to offer encouragement and understand
their aspirations and desires.
