On February 1st, Korean Good Neighbors International (GNI) and the 1% Fund of Hyundai Heavy Industry Group held the inauguration and handover of Thinh Lang Community Library (Hoa Binh City).

GNI is an
international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization
established in 1991 in Korea, and it currently operates in 48 countries around
the world, focusing on community development and children protection. In
Vietnam, GNI officially operated in 2005 with the community development
projects in 6 provinces or cities including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoa Binh,
Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang and Thanh Hoa with more than 17,000 sponsored children
and 200,000 people benefited from the projects.
With the
slogan "Books, we are friends”, Thinh Lang Community Library provides a
comfortable, easy-to-use space and stimulates a reading culture for students
and the community, bringing many values in learning and life. The project has
been implemented since the end of August 2023, and it has now been completed
and put into use with a total area of 250 m2, the construction cost is nearly 3
billion VND, of which the construction costs for the building and the landscape
garden cost more than 2 billion VND, the cost for installing furniture and
equipment was more than 680 million VND, and the cost for buying books was 280
million VND.
At the
inauguration ceremony, the delegates and the students in Thinh Lang ward
experienced activities at the Community Library such as: Reading room with more
than 7,000 books suitable for all ages, which are selected from great
publishers such as Kim Dong, Nha Nam, Dinh Ty; the creative room and the
recycling room with modern equipment including computers, printers and
experience kits. Here, the children and the people can participate in the
activities training and enhancing their creativity, using creativity to recycle
some household items. Thereby, it helps contribute to reducing waste,
protecting the living environment...
The Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province held a conference on March 18 to review the performance of the "Safe and Happy School" Project and set out tasks for 2025. The project, funded by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students. The event saw the attendance of representatives from the TFCF and 26 beneficiary schools.
