Last year, the provincial health sector stepped up patriotic movements, encouraging its staff to improve their professional knowledge and skills, contributing to raising the quality of medical check-up and treatment.

The provincial General Hospital’s officials help their colleagues at the Lac Thuy district Medical Centre raise their knowledge and skills in ophthalmology.

The provincial General Hospital initiated many solutions in medical check-up and treatment. During the 2020-2022 period, it played a key role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Between 2020 and 2023, the hospital carried out 20 scientific research projects, one provincial-level initiative, and another done with the collaboration of the Vietnam National Children's Hospital.

Bui Thu Hang, Director of the provincial Department of Health, said despite various difficulties, the sector carried forward the spirit of solidarity and innovation, and enhanced patriotic movements, striving to outstandingly perform its assigned tasks.

Last year, infrastructure at medical facilities in the province was consolidated, with two health centres in Da Bac and Kim Boi districts, and 17 others at the communal level put into serve. Up to 151 communal-level medical facilities also received new medical equipment.

The province has 29.04 hospital beds and 9.4 doctors per 10,000 residents, and 84.77% of the medical facilities in the locality have doctors.

The sector aims to cut morbidity and mortality rates this year, contributing to increasing life expectancy and improving basic health indicators of locals. It will also raise the capacity and operational efficiency of the health system, towards equality, effectiveness, high quality and sustainability, meeting people's healthcare needs in the context of industrialisation and modernisation.

To that end, the sector will focus on human resources development and the application of scientific-technological advances, improve professional ethics, and work to raise the knowledge of the public and change their behaviour in health care.
