(HBO) – It is a fact that the roughest tasks have always been taken by soldiers and military officers. The armed forces in Tan Lac district of Hoa Binh province have proved their role as a "fulcrum” for the Party Organisation, authorities and people of the Muong Bi area.

Their actions say it all. The district’s armed forces took part in rescue mission in a coal mine collapse in Lo Son commune in 2015 and sent hundreds of soldiers to help farmers harvest rice in the 2017 summer-autumn crop.

Most recently, soldiers and military officers have provided support for local residents during the historic flood, helping them reduce impacts of the natural disaster and deal with aftermaths. Thanks to their efforts, many people living at high-risk areas and their properties have been moved to safe places. The district military has also mobilized as many soldiers as they could in rescue of 18 victims in the devastating landslide in Khanh hamlet, Phu Cuong commune in October.

Over the past year, all-level military units of the district has well-performed their tasks of giving advice to the local Party Committees and authorities on defence and military affairs and measures to ensure political security and social order and safety in the locality, said Lieutenant Colonel Bach Cong Thuy from the district’s military command.

The military forces have provided consultations for the district’s Military Service Council on annual military enlistment to meet the target. At the same time, they have actively prepared learning tools, training fields and lesson plans for the effective military training and exercises, which have been associated with the movement "The military joins efforts to build new-style rural areas”. This year, they helped build and renovate 2.2 kilometres of rural roads, worth over 4 billion VND.

They have also taken an active role in charity events by supporting poor people and families subject to welfare policies. They have helped local farmers harvest more than 25 hectares of rice in a campaign this year. They also raised 70 million VND to construct a house of gratitude for a welfare policy beneficiary; and presented 43 bicycles and 12 sets of study tables and chairs, worth more than 100 million VND in total, to disadvantaged children with excellent academic results.
