Nguyen Thi Nu, a resident of Thach Ly sub-area in Da Bac township of Da Bac district, has been popular in the area as a simple woman that is rich in compassion. For nearly 10 years, she has spread her kindness through many charity activities to ease difficulties for the needy.

Born in Giao Thuy district of Nam Dinh province, Nu was a worker at the Da Bac
construction company from 1979 to 1982 when the firm was dissolved. She has
worked hard to take care of her sick husband and four children.
Despite her difficulties, she has conducted many charity activities since
January 2017, including providing free meals to patients at the district
healthcare station. Rain or shine, every Thursday, she cooks porridge to serve
60 - 70 patients. Besides porridge portions, she has added rice and cake to the
menu.
In 2021, she started to sponsor a poor student in Enh village of Tan Minh
commune in Da Bac.
"I myself come from a poor family and have a tough life, so I understand the
situation of poor people, especially vulnerable families with members receiving
treatment at the district health station, so to my ability, if I can help
someone, I'm willing to do it,” stated Nu.
She said that she cannot remember how many people and families that she has
helped or how much she has spent on the charity activities over the past nearly
10 years. Nu has actively engaged in movements launched by the local administration,
saying this is a way for her and other people like her to find a better version
of themselves.
Bui Thanh Phan, Secretary of the Party Cell of Thach Ly sub-area, said that
charities activities that Nu has conducted are worthy of respect with a strong
spillover effect in the community.
Nu's beautiful actions have contributed to promoting the spirit of "mutual
support and solidarity" in the community. With meaningful contributions,
Nu was awarded the title "Good people, good deeds" in 2023 by the People's
Committee of Da Bac township.
In late March, 29 labourers from Da Bac district were sent to work as seasonal farm workers in Buyeo county, Chungcheongnam province, the Republic of Korea (RoK). Upon arrival, they quickly settled into their jobs, enjoying good working conditions and benefits, with wages aligned with the terms of their signed contracts. The programme is now being expanded, with relevant departments and sectors actively seeking additional seasonal employment opportunities in various localities across the RoK.
