The entrance examination for public high schools has concluded in the province, with the majority of candidates observing that the exam papers closely followed the secondary school curriculum but varied in difficulty level.

Lasting from June 6 to 8, the high school entrance exam for the 2024 - 2025 academic year in Hoa Binh has seen over 11,410 registered candidates participating, with 38 examination sites accommodating a total of 502 exam rooms. The overall enrollment quota for local public high schools is set at 9,895, or approximately 70% of the total number of students. There are 199 students directly admitted without having to participate in the exam.

The preparation and organisation of the examination were done under the supervision of relevant authorities and evaluated to ensure confidentiality and strict adherence to procedures and regulations.

However, there were a number of absentees, with 42 candidates missing the Vietnamese literature exam and 45 missing the English exam on the first day.

Bui Thi Thang, a parent, said while the two above-said exams boosted confidence among candidates, the mathematics one left many disappointed due to its difficulty. Many parents predict that this year's admission scores may be lower than last year's, especially for top-rank schools in the province.

No abnormal or complex incidents occurred within and around exam sites, and invigilators strictly adhered to examination regulations and protocols, said Dinh Thi Huong, Vice Director of the Hoa Binh Department of Education and Training.

The department is expected to announce the exam scores on June 13 and 14. It said the grading process is closely monitored to ensure fairness, objectivity, and accuracy.
