(HBO) – On the 20th day of the 10th lunar month every year, a branch of Vu Dinh family in Yen Thuy district holds an incense-offering ceremony on the occasion of the death anniversary of paternal great-grandfather, during which adults and children achieving outstanding results in business and study will be honoured. The fine tradition is a motivation for each member of Vu Dinh family to make tireless efforts to study and practise.

The branch of Vu Dinh family in Yen Thuy district now groups 17 households with 67 members. Their native place is My Do village, An Lao commune, Binh Luc district, Ha Nam province. They now live in A Dong hamlet, Yen Tri commune, Yen Thuy district. Talking about their tradition, Vu Dinh Tung, head of the Vu Dinh family branch in Yen Tri commune, said the branch has a tradition of patriotism, solidarity and avid learning. Our great grandfather was a scholar teaching Chinese script. His children are good at handwriting and calculation, now working as officials in the district People’s Committee. Upholding the tradition of predecessors, later generations are keen on learning and holding high positions in agencies and units. All adults aged 15-60 in the family are literate, commit to life-long learning and actively joining study encouragement campaigns and local activities.
Each household in the family created the most favourable condition for their children to study. The family’s study encouragement fund offers 1.2 million VND to each household every year. All households arranged study corners up to standards.
Study encouragement activities are done in methodical and orderly manner. The family has paid attention to commendation and reward to those with outstanding academic achievements. Each year, 90-100 percent of children of school age with good academic performance in the family branch are honoured. Up to 15 out of 16 studying in high schools and universities won the title of good student and above. All households in the family branch were awarded with the titles "Cultural family”, "Learning family”. Since 2014, the family branch has been honoured with the title "Learning family” of not only Yen Thuy district but Hoa Binh province also.
In late March, 29 labourers from Da Bac district were sent to work as seasonal farm workers in Buyeo county, Chungcheongnam province, the Republic of Korea (RoK). Upon arrival, they quickly settled into their jobs, enjoying good working conditions and benefits, with wages aligned with the terms of their signed contracts.
