(HBO) – Mo village in Binh Thanh commune, Cao Phong district, developed community-based tourism earlier than other localities in the Hoa Binh Lake tourist area. The village now is still preserving its beauty which attracts people who want to take a break from the bustling and noisy city.

Visitors discover daily life and agricultural production of the people of Mo village, Binh Thanh commune.

Located at the foot of Mo mountain, about 12 km from Hoa Binh city, Mo village converges the elements of an attractive destination with traditional cultural identity, beautiful landscape, and conventional transportation.

In the peaceful valley are houses on stilts looming on the hillside. In front of the village are terraced fields with colours changing season-by-season. Behind the village is a field with a stream running around, far away is a forest and a long mountain range.

Tran Anh Tuan, a tourist from Hanoi, said that his group of 16 has spent two days and one night in the village. They have a good time there, Tuan said, adding that they enjoy walking on the small road in the village and visiting the green rice fields and cool stream.

Visitors to the village can also learn how local people weave traditional brocade products by hand, practice rice milling, pound rice with water power, and knit household applicants.
They are treated to Muong food including sticky rice, spring rolls with pomelo leaves, free-range chicken, and banana blossom salad. They will be told about ancient Muong land, and listen to the folk songs mingled with the flute sound.

Bui Thi Chieu, a homestay owner in the village, said that in Mo village, there are more than 100 Muong households and they mainly earn their living by farming. The old stilt houses are among the most attractive of the village, as they are associated with the customs and daily life of the locals. Here, people still keep many ancient production tools made from bamboo and wood such as looms, bows, and crossbows to make visitors truly experience local daily life.

Thanks to proper conservation and promotion of its typical features, Mo village is still attractive to visitors. Moreover, visitors can also easily explore nearby destinations such as the Monument of Hero Cu Chinh Lan, Muong Cultural Space Museum, and other cultural and spiritual tourist sites on the poetic and majestic Hoa Binh lake./.
