In 2023, the relic site where President Ho Chi Minh visited the Chi Hoa Production Group in Lam Son commune, Luong Son district of Hoa Binh province, was officially recognised as a provincial-level revolutionary historical site. Each year, it draws numerous visitors from across Vietnam and abroad, becoming a "red address" for educating young generations on the nation's revolutionary traditions.

The exhibition hall at the historical site commemorating President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to the Chi Hoa Production Group in Lam Son commune, Luong Son district, showcases many pieces of memorabilia related to the late leader.

In 1956, as part of the Party and State’s policy, 45 southern cadres who had relocated to the north, alongside political prisoners released from Chi Hoa Prison by the French colonialists, arrived in Luong Son district to establish Group 1 and the Chi Hoa Production Group. Their mission was to reclaim land and boost economic development. Later, Group 1 merged with the Chi Hoa Group to form the Southern Production Group, which was later renamed the Cuu Long Production Group – the precursor to the State-owned Cuu Long Agricultural Farm.

On October 19, 1958, during his visit to the ethnic minorities and officials of Hoa Binh province, President Ho Chi Minh visited the southern military division stationed in Luong Son and the Chi Hoa Production Group. The trip, during which he talked to officials and residents of the district's Lam Son commune, gave a huge boost to locals, encouraging them to unite and excel in their duties.

Following Uncle Ho’s words, the Party Organisation, authorities, and people of Lam Son commune have worked tirelessly to develop the local economy, shift its structure in the right direction, and exceed targets.

In 2024, the commune's state budget revenue reached 3.2 billion VND (over 126,400 USD), equivalent to 133.6% of the district’s target and 123.5% of the figure recorded in 2023. Average per capita income stood at 70 million VND. Education has been given attention, with continuous improvements in quality. Lam Son commune has continually met or exceeded the standards set by the Government's Decree No. 20/2014/ND-CP, including universal access to preschool education for five-year-olds and primary education for school-age children, along with secondary school education at Level 3 and illiteracy elimination at Level 2.

In 2024, the historical site of Ho Chi Minh's visit to the Chi Hoa Production Group welcomed many students along with senior Party and State officials. Numerous activities aimed at promoting tradition education were carried out, including incense offerings, floral tributes, reports to Uncle Ho, and exhibitions of historical artefacts connected to the national leader.

Trinh Thi Luyen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Committee of Lam Son commune, said that every year, during holidays like the Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27) and National Day (September 2), the union has worked with other local organisations to host meaningful events at the historical site. These include incense offerings, clean-up, and preservation of local relic sites. This helps the younger generation better understand the people's deep affection for President Ho Chi Minh and the revolutionary traditions of their hometown.

To preserve the relic site for future generations, the provincial People's Committee approved a project in 2019 to restore and preserve the site marking President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Chi Hoa Production Group. The project, covering over 5,900 sq.m, has a total investment of more than 14 billion VND for the first phase and over 10 billion VND for the second. This initiative has significant political, historical, cultural, and social importance, contributing to the education of revolutionary traditions and national solidarity among cadres, Party members, and citizens.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lam Son commune, said that popularising and teaching revolutionary traditions is a crucial political task that the local Party Committee prioritises. The commune is currently on track to meet criteria to be upgraded to an urban ward in 2025. To date, it has met 12 out of 13 criteria, making it one of the leading communes in the district set to make this transition.
