(HBO) – Politburo member, Minister of Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen. To Lam visited and held a working session with the Department of Public Security of Hoa Binh province on February 7.

At the working session, the Director of the provincial Department of Public Security reported on the outcomes of ensuring security and order in the province. Accordingly, local public security units actively advised authorities at all levels about measures to maintain security and order, grasped the situation, and mobilised the whole political system’s participation in the work, thus staying ready in any circumstances.

As a result, police forces cracked down on many crime gangs and successfully uncovered a number of cases. Meanwhile, the "all people protect national security” movement continued developing with many successful models maintained and expanded. The Party building and police force development were also stepped up.

Addressing the session, Minister To Lam applauded the efforts by Hoa Binh’s police force, stressing that the swiftly changing global and regional situation creates a number of opportunities as well as challenges for Vietnam. Hostile forces are still continuing "peace evolution” and taking advantage of religious and ethnic affairs to sabotage the country.

He noted while Hoa Binh is a gateway of both Hanoi capital city and the northwestern region, it is also a hotbed of security and order issues, especially drug-related crimes.

Authorities need to pay special attention to ethnic minority groups and encourage local prestigious persons to take the lead in the "all people protect national security” movement, act as a bridge linking local ethnic people and administrations, and call on the people to comply with the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, the minister said.

They should also encourage local people to fight crimes and sabotage plots and solve disagreements, thus helping to ensure security and order, he added.

On this occasion, Minister To Lam and Hoa Binh’s leaders planted trees at the headquarters of the provincial Department of Public Security.

Earlier the same day, the minister and the Hoa Binh delegation visited and presented 300 gift packages to village patriarchs, prestigious persons, and disadvantaged families in Hang Kia and Pa Co communes of Mai Chau district, to encourage them to overcome difficulties and improve their lives./.
