The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand held a banquet in Udon Thani province on September 2 to observe the 73rd anniversary of National Day of Vietnam (September 2).

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
and Chairman of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese, Vu Hong Nam;
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Nguyen Hai Bang; and around 2,000 Vietnamese
people who are working and studying in Thailand.
In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Hai Bang commemorated the
legacy of President Ho Chi Minh who devoted his whole life to the people and
nation of Vietnam.
He reviewed the establishment and development of the
relations between Vietnam and Thailand, which are the first two ASEAN nations
to establish a strategic partnership. Thailand is Vietnam’s largest trade
partner in the ASEAN bloc, and bilateral trade turnover has performed strongly
with an annual growth rate of 15.5%, he noted.
He expressed his firm belief that the bilateral friendship
and cooperation will grow further for the mutual interest and prosperity of the
two peoples, contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region
and the world at large.
Earlier the same day, Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam and Ambassador
Nguyen Hai Bang joined representatives of Vietnamese agencies in Thailand and
Overseas Vietnamese community to pay homage to President Ho Chi Minh at his
memorial site in Udon Thani.

The delegation was welcomed by Hoang Thuy Duong, Consul General of Vietnam in the city, and staff members of the consulate.
