HBO – Locating in Yen Mong commune, Hoa Binh city, right next to the national road 70 and in the middle of green corn field, the relic site of a visit of President Ho Chi Minh to the Hoa Binh Young socialist Workers’ school stands out with red roof. The 3,335 square-metre facility has a traditional design and faces the Da River.

Inside the teaching staff’s building in the relic’s campus, many photos, documents are on display, featuring the history and activities of the school.

The site was recognised as a provincial cultural, historical relic site in 2008. However, time has taken a heavy toll on the school, with almost no trace of old building left. Therefore, in order to preserve and promote the value of the relic site and the teachings of Uncle Ho during his visit to the school, as well as to meet the wish of local residents, the provincial People’s Committee invested over 15 billion VND (660,000 USD) in repairing and upgrading the relic site in 2012. The facility is now completed.

At the main gate, one can see a 320 sq.m lake in the centre of the site. The first stop is a large yard with a black 2.55 m high stone stele which is carved with the late President’s teachings in golden colour, saying that "Learn well, work well, always try the best, always improve.”

Along with the stele, an outstanding feature of the relic is a stone sculptural relief, which is 24 mlong and 2.7 mhigh. It depicts Uncle Ho’s visit to the school, and images of teaching and working activities at the school along with typical local culture.

Among the highlights of the facility is the teaching staff’s building on an area of 176 sq.m. It has the same design and size as the original building in 1962. Many photos, documents are put on display in the building in the relic’s campus, featuring the history and the activities at the school. They include photos of many Party and State leaders, such as Party General Secretary Do Muoi, Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, attending the school year opening ceremony at the school.

There are also images of the friendship and training cooperation between the school and the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship School, along with school’s activities, for example a class on cassava cultivation technique in 1966, the production of noodle in 1965, and students operating maize sowing machines made by the school.

Numerous photos of Uncle Ho’s visit and his gifts to the school are showcased in the building’s campus, such as a set of brown clothes, a white soldier’s hat. Right next to an altar worshipping late President Ho Chi Minh and the national flag is a summary of Uncle Ho’s speech at the school during his visit on August 17, 1962.

The precious but simple and familiar souvenirs remind all visitors of the beloved late President.
The entire area nestles under the shade of big longan trees, which were planted in the school campus in the 1960s./.
