(HBO) – In early 1958, initiated by the Hoa Binh province chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and approved by the provincial Party Committee, an "in-service training” school was set up at traffic construction sites of Hoa Binh province. In 1962, after learning about such a new type of school in this mountain area, then President Ho Chi Minh, despite a myriad of work amid the newly gained independence and peace in the north, visited teachers and students of the school as well as ethnic people in Hoa Binh province. He said: "This is a school, not a farm” and sent a precious message to the school’s teachers and students as well as younger generations nationwide: "Studying well, working well. Trying forever, advancing forever.”

boarding high school.
Since then, the school has officially borne the
name
Hoa
Binh
Schoolfor Socialist Working Youth. Generations of teachers, students and local people
have simply called it the "farm school”.
Under the guide of teachers, the school’s
students made efforts to study and obtained numerous excellent results. At this
in-service training school, thousands of young ethnic people have graduated and
entered universities. Many of them have become key officials of the Party, the
State and localities, contributing to national development.
With its outstanding achievements, the school
was the flagship in the education sector’s "Two Goods” emulation movement
between 1968 and 1978. It has also been granted with a number of noble orders
by the Party and the State. It was bestowed the "Hero of Labour” title in 1985.
As an ethnic minority boarding high school since
1991, the school has continued to follow President Ho’s teaching and uphold its
tradition, keeping efforts to teach well and learn well and, as a result,
gaining many major accomplishments. More than 5,000 ethnic minority students
have graduated from the high school so far. Many of them have continued
studying at universities or junior colleges, becoming key officials in various
fields nationwide.
The staff members and teachers of the school
have continually improved their political firmness, professional
knowledge and skills and fulfilled the task of caring for and teaching
students, thereby helping to create high-quality manpower who are local young
ethnics for the province and the country. Many of the employees and teachers
have also overcome difficulties to prove themselves as the core staff of the
education sector and shining examples for their colleagues and students to
follow.
In the 2016-2017 academic year, the school
attained specially prominent achievements. Up to 648 of the 664 students had
their behaviour recognised as good. Meanwhile, 240 students and 400 others were
recognised to have excellent and moderately good academic performance,
accounting for 36 percent and 60 percent of the total students respectively.
There were 162 students winning prizes at the provincial competitions for
excellent students and all 206 of the 12th graders passed the national high
school graduation exam.
Thanks to its exceptional attainments, the
school was presented with the Labour Order (third class) on the occasion of 55
years of studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching. On the
threshold of its 60th founding anniversary, the school’s teachers and students
are resolved to fulfil all assigned tasks and obtain more achievements so as to
bring the school to a new level of development./.
