Notably, the PM announced the decision to set up a special working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, to focus on addressing the current pressing issues including complaints made by the people.

PM Phuc also urged government members to continue to discuss and gather ideas on Resolution No.01, on the major tasks and solutions to implement socio-economic development and the State budget estimate for 2019, which will be on discussion in late December at the conference between the government and localities.

The government leader also asked for stable supply of electricity during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays and the prevention of African swine fever.

In particular, the PM requested that the authorised agencies impose harsher punishment on illegal "black credit" amid the recent detection of the biggest ever illegal lending in Thanh Hoa involving 26 branches nationwide.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc acknowledged the positive socio-economic development in November, while asking the relevant agencies to clarify any inadequacies to prepare the best conditions for implementing the tasks set for 2019.

According to the report of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the macroeconomy remains stable and inflation is under control. The consumer price index (CPI) in November decreased by 0.29% over the previous month and the average CPI over the past 11 months went up by 3.59% against the same period in 2017.

The country also posted a high trade surplus of US$6.8 billion in the first 11 months of this year and saw a sharp increase in the number of newly established enterprises.

At the meeting, the government cabinet also gave ideas on the allocation of capital for sub-projects of the North-South highway project, the promulgation of documents on the reduction and simplification of specialised inspection of goods and conditions on business, and the results of inspections by the PM Working Group in November, among others.
