(HBO) – As one of the 11 communes selected by the provincial authorities to be the models in implementing the national target programme on new-style rural area building in Hoa Binh province, Dong Tam commune of Lac Thuy district has fulfilled the set targets and is among the first communes in Hoa Binh to earn the status of new-style rural area.
There are six farms earning an annual income of between 500
million VND (over 21,400 USD) and 1 billion VND in Dong Tam commune (Lac Thuy
district).
The landscape in Dong Tam is changing day to day.
Particularly, all roads linking hamlets and villages and half of the roads
traversing fields in the commune have been paved with concrete, while five of
the nine local reservoirs and dykes have been repaired. That has facilitated
daily and production activities of local residents.
The commune currently houses 16 projects with
total investment capital of nearly 70 billion VND. They operate in animal
husbandry, herbal plant cultivation, forestry product processing, and plastics
and package production.
Notably, thanks to the improved public awareness
of environmental protection, local people have reached consensus about the
building of a waste treatment factory in Dong Phu hamlet, thus facilitating
ground clearance for the factory.
Craft industries and services, including
construction material production, forestry product processing, food processing,
mechanics and transportation, have been encouraged to develop, providing jobs
for more than 400 people with an average monthly per capita income of 5 million
VND.
At present, 229 households in Dong Tam are
joining in a plan on renovating poor-performing gardens with a total area of
223ha. They have invested in family- and large-scaled farms to develop bee
keeping, the raising of wild boar and goat and aquatic farming. There are six
farms with an annual income of between 500 million VND and 1 billion VND in
Dong Tam commune at present.
Additionally, the agricultural restructuring
plan has been actively carried out in the direction of forming value chains to
improve local farm produce’s added value. A project on safe vegetable
production chain is also being implemented on 2ha of field in Tan Tien hamlet.
Meanwhile, 10 households of Dong Tam are taking part in a safe chicken farming
project, producing 10,000 chickens each batch./.
