(HBO) - A working delegation of the north-western province of Hoa Binh led by Nguyen Van Chuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, visited and extended greetings to leaders of Houaphanh province of Laos on the occasion of the country’s traditional New Year festival, the Bunpimay. The delegation was received by Deputy Governor of Houaphanh Phanthong Phetxay Somvane and other provincial leaders.

At the
working session, Vice Chairman of Hoa Binh People’s Committee Nguyen Van Chuong
extended New Year greetings to leaders and people of Houaphanh province, on
behalf of Hoa Binh authorities. He also briefed his host on the socio-economic
development of Hoa Binh.
The two
sides discussed a plan on human resources training for Houaphanh province in
the coming time.
For his
part, Deputy Governor of Houaphanh Phanthong Phetxay Somvane thanked Hoa Binh
authorities for paying heed to Houaphanh’s development, especially during this
year’s Bunpimay festival.
He voiced
his hope that the two provinces will continue to tighten the bilateral
friendship and the Vietnamese locality will further support Houaphanh province
in the future.
After the
meeting, the Hoa Binh delegation and Houaphanh leaders joined a celebration in
Xam Neua city, in which participantssplashed
water and tied threads on each other’s wrist, part of traditional rituals of
Bunpimay, to wish for peace and a happy New Year./.
