Opening the competition, Deputy Minister of
Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao expressed his hope that with
their sentiment towards the Fatherland’s seas and islands and thorough
preparations, the contesting teams would help with the popularisation of the
Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on sea- and island-related
issues, especially the resolution onthe "strategy for sustainably
developing Vietnam’s sea-based economy until 2030, with a vision to 2045”
issued at the 8th meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee.
He also wished they would step up disseminating
the historical and legal evidence testifying to Vietnam’s sovereignty over
Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. The competition was expected to help
localities improve the effectiveness of communications about seas and islands
and attract public attention.
In his speech, Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh
provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Chuong said throughout the history,
seas and islands have always been a sacred, integral and inseparable part of
Vietnam. By exerting efforts and even scarifying their lives, generations of
Vietnamese people have established, managed, safeguarded and affirmed the
country’s sovereignty over its sea areas and islands.
He also said he hoped through the competition,
the provinces could learn precious experiences from one another to select
suitable dissemination methods for their localities, thereby helping with the
safeguarding of Vietnam’s marine sovereignty./.
