(HBO) – Tan Lac district on March 5 received cement donated by producers in Hoa Binh province as support for the new-style rural area building in Ngo Luong commune. The presentation ceremony was attended by Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Hoang Van Tu, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Bui Van Cuu, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Bui Thi Thanh, former Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and other delegates at the ceremony receiving 1,000 tonnes of cement donated to the new-style rural area building in Ngo Luong commune, Tan Lac district.

Ngo Luong, about 30km from the centre of Tan Lac district, is among the most disadvantaged communes of Hoa Binh province. Local residents depend mainly on agricultural production for their livelihoods. Per capita income remains low, 20 million VND (nearly 870 USD) in 2019.

Over the past years, thanks to assistance by the State, Programme 135, the district’s poverty reduction project and support projects of non-governmental organisations, the local socio-economic situation has been improved considerably. However, transport infrastructure is still a conundrum hampering socio-economic development and new-style rural area building in the commune. So far, Ngo Luong has just met 10 of the 19 new-style countryside criteria.

In response to the appeal made by the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, three cement manufacturers in Hoa Binh supported the commune with 1,000 tonnes of cement to upgrade local roads to help facilitate people’s daily activities and the new-style rural area building. In particular, the Binh Minh Construction and Tourism Group JSC assisted Ngo Luong with 500 tonnes, the X18 Cement JSC 250 tonnes, and the Vinh Son Cement Co. Ltd 250 tonnes.

At the ceremony, Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, noted the Party organisation, administration and people of Ngo Luong commune have always kept united and made efforts to shape a life of comfort and happiness. In 1985, the commune was granted with the "Hero of Education” title by the State President.

Despite economic difficulties, local authorities and residents have joined hands in developing a new-style rural area. However, due to limited resources, the work has yet to reap expected outcomes, he said.

The official described the businesses’ support of 1,000 tonnes of cement as greatly helpful to promoting the commune’s new-style rural area building, adding that the event held to receive the support was an acknowledgement of the businesses from the provincial, district and communal authorities.

He expressed his hope that companies will continue assisting remote and disadvantaged communes to upgrade roads so as to serve people’s daily life and socio-economic development in the province./.
