(HBO) - Taking care of stabilizing the lives of the people with meritorious services and the families under the preferential policies has been identified as one of the important responsibilities by the Party Committees and the authorities of Mai Chau district.

The mass organizations and the People of Tan Thanh Commune (Mai Chau) help the families under the preferential policies with housing.

Therefore, the fundraising movement for "Repaying Oneself for His Favour” has been launched widely among the officials and the local people in recent years. With this donated and supported fund, hundreds of the households have been helped to renew and repair houses with the amount of 30 million VND for a new house and 10 million VND for a repaired house. From 2016 to now, they have supported to build 93 houses, of which, there have been 36 new houses and 57 repaired houses. The support was implemented to ensure the right people (the war invalids, those who suffer from chemical toxins, the martyrs 'mothers and wives, the wives of the dead war invalids, those who took care and grew up the martyrs and martyrs' relatives ...).

The movement of "Repaying Oneself for His Favour”, and taking care of the people with meritorious services has been widely spreading in the community. In addition to actively contributing and supporting the fund of "Repaying Oneself for His Favour”, many other meaningful activities of gratitude and caring for the families of the war invalids and martyrs have been promoted in the communes and in the town. Typically, there has been movement of mobilizing workday to help the families under the preferential policies in Mai Hich, Tat Khoe and Mai Ha communes. In Mai Chau Town, Chieng Chau, Tan Thanh, Na Phon communes have helped the working days and the funds to support people with merits having difficulty.

Right in June, the People’s Committee of the district has mobilized the entire people to contribute and support the Fund of "Repaying Oneself for His Favour”. The average annual fund is over 500 million VND. In addition to support for house renovation and repair, they also use previous years' fund to provide a part of direct support for the people with meritorious services, the relatives of the people with meritorious services with a gratitude savings worth 5 million VND. One-time support worth one million VND has been offered for the people with meritorious services having difficulty.

Caring and encouraging activities for the wounded and diseased soldiers and the families under the preferential policies have also been carried out on the occasion of holidays, New Year, the day of War Invalids and Martyrs on July 27. Specifically, 100% of the people with meritorious services and the relatives of the people with meritorious services have been visited and given presents. Besides the authorized central budget, the province and the district also deduct the fund to give gifts to the war invalids, the victims of heavy toxic chemicals and children of martyrs with severe disabilities. At present, there are 234 people with meritorious services, including 143 wounded soldiers, 24 diseased one, the rest are those who suffer from toxic chemicals and imprisonment. Over 90% of the people with meritorious services have an average living standard or higher compared to that of the residents in the locality.
