(HBO) - On September 14, the Hoa Binh Department of Education and Training held a meeting to review the outcome of the 2019 – 2020 academic year and discuss measures to carry out tasks of the 2020 – 2021 academic year. Attending the function was Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Tinh.

Authorised by the Prime Minister, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Tinh presents the PM’s certificates of merit to individuals with outstanding achievements.

In the 2019 – 2020 academic year, Hoa Binh had a total of 539 schools – 50 schools less than that of the previous year – and 228,258 students. The rate of children going to kindergartens reached 75.8 percent, up 1.7 percent. All under-5 children attended pre-school establishments full days and 97 percent of them took one meal at school. For general education schools, the teaching of information technology, English, and scientific and technological innovation received proper attention. Schools seriously applied measures for COVID-19 prevention and control, while online and televised teaching was conducted creatively.

Speaking at the meeting, Tinh acknowledged the achievements recorded in the school year by the local education sector. He requested the sector focus on teaching innovation, boost the quality of the national exam for high school graduation, and deter the negative practice of running after exaggerated achievements. He urged building specific criteria for school and teacher classifications and streamlining apparatus, among others.

The official also instructed the sector to continue building semi-boarding facilities, and ensure benefits for teachers and students.
