Dinh Thi Thuy Hoa, Chairwoman of the women’s union, said the district counts 17,689 members and 146 branches. Since the beginning of each year, the union sets out specific plans and launches emulations movements, which have received the warm response from all of its branches.

During the 2016-2021 tenure, over 90 percent of its members have satisfied standards set in the emulation movements.

The union has paid attention to the communication work, made use of support of all-level Party Committees and authorities, improved skills and knowledge for officials at the grassroots level, promoted role models, and sought solutions to limitations and shortcomings.

Following President Ho Chi Minh’s practice of thrift, the union has launched a piggy bank programme, which has attracted the participation of more than 80 percent of its members, and saved up to 4.4 billion VND.

The savings have been used to help the union’s members in economic development, those suffering from serious diseases or accidents, and children of union members.

Notably, the union has encouraged its members to contribute necessities in support of the COVID-19 pandemic, people under medical quarantine and poor households affected by the COVID-19 social distancing, with a total value of 504.78 million VND.

In implementing emulation movements and the Politburo’s Directive No. 05, the union has offered consultancy and introduced jobs to 669 members and their children, and opened 43 vocational training classes for 687 others.

For the movement on women joining hands in new-style rural area building, the union has planted flowers along 184 routes, built 11 model residential areas with 220 households, contributed 202.6 million VND to the construction of 62 toilets, and encouraged 134 members to donate 28,365 m2 to transport projects.
