(HBO) - Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, on June 21 hosted a delegation of Ireland led by Anne Rabbitte, Minister of State at the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and the Department of Health.

During the meeting, Khanh briefed the guest on
active results of projects funded by the Irish government in Hoa Binh, saying
that those have contributed to promoting socio-economic development and
sustainable poverty reduction, and ensuring social security in the locality.
He thanked the Irish government for its assistance
to Hoa Binh, showing his hope that the Irish government will continue to
support the province in promoting socio-economic development and improving
livelihoods and incomes for residents in disadvantaged and remote areas.
For her part, Rabbitte congratulated Hoa Binh on its
achievements in implementing poverty reduction programmes and projects in
recent years, especially during the time of impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said that her visit to Hoa Binh aims to further
enhance cooperation with the locality, towards realising the target of poverty
reduction of Hoa Binh, especially in ethnic minority areas.
On the occasion, the Irish delegation made field
trips to a number of places in Da Bac district.
Hoa Binh received 79.3 billion VND (over 3.4 million
USD) in aids from the Irish government in the 2017 – 2020 period. The money was
used to invest in 66 transport works, four irrigation projects and one school
in the districts of Kim Boi, Da Bac, Lac Son, Yen Thuy, Tan Lac and Mai Chau,
benefiting 10,000 local households.
After three years of implementing the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW on continuing performing Directive 05-CT/TW on enhancing the learning and studying of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, moral example and lifestyle, Lac Thuy district of Hoa Binh province has discovered many effective models and practices, creating a spillover effect in the local community, helping to develop a clean and strong Party Organisation meeting the requirements in the new situation.
The Hoa Binh Elderly Association and the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on May 7 held a working session with a visiting delegation from the Japanese Embassy and sponsors of a local project on reducing senior citizens’ income and health vulnerabilities in Vietnam (VIE071).

The delegation was welcomed by Hoang Thuy Duong, Consul General of Vietnam in the city, and staff members of the consulate.

Other provinces participating in this programme, held by the Department for Local Diplomacy Facilitation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, include Yen Bai, Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien - Hue, and Gia Lai.
