(HBO) – The People’s Committee of Hoa Binh held a ceremony on December 20 to honour role models in the community in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous localities.

The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee, leaders of provincial departments; and representatives of agencies and localities, as well as more than 180 role models who showed outstanding performance in emulation movements in the province.

Opening the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su said that this is a chance to honour role models and affirm the provincial Party Committee and administration’s recognition of their contributions in the period. It is also a chance to multiply effective models and encourage locals to take part in emulation movements, contributing to completing socio-economic targets of the province.

 

Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, presents certificates of merit to collectives that have made outstanding contributions to the socio-economic development in the ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas. 

In Hoa Binh, 74.43% of population are from ethnic minority groups. So far, the province has had 1,212 prestigious people from the community, along with more than 9,000 heads of villages and local officials, of whom nearly 7,000 are from ethnic minority groups. Meanwhile, 586 ethnic minority people are leading businesses and cooperatives. 

Along with optimising the strengths and potentials of the localities, they have exerted efforts to develop production and become core factor in boosting local socio-economic growth in the province.

Addressing the event, Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, underlined the significance of ethnic minority affairs and recognised achievements in the field. 

He stressed the need to continue to effectively implement policies and programmes to boost the socio-economic and cultural development and ensure security and defence in the ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas, as well as the strengthening of the IT application in production in the areas, and the training of officials from ethnic minority groups.

At the event, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merits to 17 collectives and 33 individuals with outstanding performance in implementing their duties as well as promoting production and business activities, making positive contributions to the socio-economic development in the ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas./.
