(HBO) – A working delegation of the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) Central Committee led by its Vice President Tran Quoc Hung on November 14 paid a visit and presented gift packages to people affected by recent downpours and floods in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh.
The
delegation was received by Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee
and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Hoang Thanh Mich, Chairman
of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and representatives of the
provincial Party Central Committee Office.
At the working session, VRC Central Committee
Vice President expressed sympathy over losses in the province caused by heavy
rains and flood. He also symbolically handed over an aid of 660 million VND
from the project to support people affected in the downpours and flood in
October 2017 of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies.

On behalf of local authorities and people, Bui Van Tinh,
member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party
Committee, thanked the VRC Central Committee for joining the province’s efforts
to overcome consequences of natural disasters.
Informing the delegation of activities to
stabilise the lives of flood-hit people, Tinh said the province has conducted
geographical evaluation for landslides in high-risk areas in Hoa Binh city to
improve the conditions. Currently, the province has moved people living in
high-risk areas to safer places.
The province has called for donations of
organisations and individuals to provide necessities and seedlings in order to
help displaced residents normalise their daily activities and production.
However, resettlement remains the largest difficulty. The province has gathered
resources and donations and proposed the Government the building of
resettlement areas for people to stabilise their lives.
After the working session, the delegation
visited and presented gifts to 50 households affected by recent downpours and
landslides in Tien Phong commune (Da Bac district)./.
The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minority Groups of Hoa Binh province was successfully held on November 15 at the provincial Culture Centre.
