Over the recent years, the Party committees and authorities from the provincial to local levels have paid attention to information poverty reduction efforts. Efforts have been made to assist poor, near-poor households, and those recently escaped poverty in accessing telecommunication services, information and reducing information poverty. There has also been a focus on enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of the grassroots information system, as well as improving the infrastructure for information activities.

At present, 135 out of 151 communes, wards, and towns are operating radio broadcasting systems, reaching 89.5%. In the reviewed period, training sessions were held to enhance information capacity and dissemination skills for 331 officials and civil servants at the district and communal levels. The local press agencies have been actively engaging in diverse and timely information dissemination, honouring individuals, collectives and experience related to sustainable poverty reduction efforts.

At the event, members of the delegation suggested the province clarify further details regarding the progress and effectiveness of various tasks and sub-projects in the poverty reduction programme in general, particularly the challenges and obstacles in information poverty reduction, especially in the areas inhabited by ethnic minority groups. They also proposed solutions to improving the capacity of information and communication officers at the grassroots level, and offering support in terms of telecom infrastructure for poor and near-poor households.

The province wished that in the near future, the Ministry of Information and Communications would promptly build a programme framework, lectures in both printed and electronic formats to serve the dissemination needs of training classes under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2023 and subsequent years. The standing agency and budget assessment agency for the national target programmes in the province were advised to propose the issuance of decisions, plans, and guidelines to ensure the timely progress of the programme.

Nguyen Thu Hoai, Deputy Director of the Information Department under the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, proposed in the near future, the provincial Party Committee's Board for Information and Education along with relevant departments and agencies, continue paying attention to information and communication work for poverty reduction, effectively perform tasks regarding information poverty reduction.

The delegation will collect the province's proposals for further consultation and submission to relevant ministries and agencies. This will provide effective guidance and orientation for information dissemination work that is more suitable and effective for localities./.
