The Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Binh province on April 19 held a get-together on April 19 for soldiers, youth volunteers, and transporters who directly engaged in the Dien Bien Phu campaign 70 years ago (1954-2024).

The event was attended by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Bui Duc Hinh, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Van Khanh, among others.

As many as 22 soldiers, youth volunteers, and transporters who directly engaged in the Dien Bien Phu campaign gathered at the event.

In his remarks, Long highlighted their contributions and sacrifices as well as those by the province’s army and people.

The locality mobilised 381,292 personnel and 905 bicycles, transported 4,900 tonnes of goods, contributed 170,000 workdays, and provided 39.5 tonnes of meat for the front. During the campaign, local soldiers and guerillas also launched many attacks to stretch and drain enemy forces.

Over the past years, local Party organisations, authorities, army, and people have stay united, taken various harmonious, flexible and create solutions, and stepped up Party building and rectification.

Hoa Binh has fulfilled many socio-economic targets, paid more attention to agriculture, culture, social affairs, education-training, health care and social welfare; and worked to raise people’s spiritual life.

Notably, it has also given care to national contributors, creating the best possible conditions for them to access social welfare policies.

Long urged agencies and localities to continue effectively implementing social welfare policies, and intensify the communications work to improve the awareness of the public, especially youths, of the great sacrifices by previous generations.
